Your first time, step by step

You do not need to know anything about games, translation or computers beyond the basics to use Tranzio. This page is the whole of it, in the order you will meet it. Read the part you need, do it, and come back for the next when you want it.

Three words, and that is all#

Play a game in your language#

This is the shorter path, and most people start here. It takes a few minutes and changes nothing you cannot undo.

   Find your game

   Type its name in the search box at the top of the window, or look for it on Home. If it is not there, nobody has translated it yet.

   Pick a translation

   A game can have more than one translation into your language, by different people. The bar on each says how much of the game it covers. Full means everything; partial means some parts stay in the original language.

   Press Install

   Tranzio finds the game on your computer (it asks you to point at the folder if it cannot), keeps a copy of the game's own files, and puts the translation in. A progress bar shows how far it is.

   Play

   Start the game the way you always do. The menus and the story are in your language. Your saved games are exactly where they were.

Make a translation yourself#

You do not need to be a translator, and you do not need to translate everything. A translation with only the menus done is still a translation, and other people can help with the rest.

   Add the game

   Press Translate a game in the menu on the left and point at the game's folder. Tranzio looks inside it and finds the text, the spoken lines and the fonts on its own.

   Translate the text

   Open the Text page. Every line the game shows is a row: the original on one side, your words on the other. Click a row and type. It saves by itself.

   Voices, if you want

   The Audio page lists every spoken line. Record your own voice for the ones you want; the rest keep the original. This part is optional.

   Fonts, if the letters look wrong

   Some games use fonts that cannot show your alphabet. The Fonts page swaps them for ones that can, with one click each.

   Build it

   Press Build. Tranzio turns your work into something the game can use and puts it into your copy of the game, so you can see it. Share it on Tranzio when you are happy with it.

When you are stuck#

Two things are always there. The ? button in the top bar turns on help mode: everything that can explain itself gets a green outline, and clicking one shows a short answer beside it, in plain words. Nothing runs while it is on, so it is safe to click anything.

And if the answer is not there, a person is. Support in the menu under your name opens a conversation with the Tranzio team. Say what you were doing and what happened; the reply arrives in the app.
